Oldmeldrum Golf Club's Women's Golf Academy is going from strength to strength, with an incredible response from local women eager to take up the game.

Backed by sponsorship from Bethan, the academy has already welcomed 40 women and expanded to run across two evenings each week to meet demand. A further 15 women are already on the waiting list for the next block, with many more expressing an interest in joining - a clear sign of the growing appetite for opportunities like this within the local community.

The academy provides a welcoming and supportive environment for women of all abilities to learn the game, build confidence and enjoy the social side of golf. PGA Professional David Pocock leads the Tuesday evening sessions, while fellow Professional James Johnston coaches on Wednesdays, with participants already making fantastic progress both on and off the course.

Nicola Currie, Club Manager at Oldmeldrum Golf Club, says:"I am absolutely delighted with the fantastic uptake for our Women's Golf Academy. Growing the ladies' section was something I was incredibly passionate about when I took on my role at Oldmeldrum Golf Club, so it's wonderful to see so many ladies getting involved.

A huge thank you to Bethan for believing in our vision and supporting the academy from the very beginning. I knew they were exactly the kind of team I wanted alongside us to help drive this initiative forward, and their support has been invaluable.

I'd also like to recognise our Professional, David Pocock, whose enthusiasm, commitment and coaching have been instrumental in making this such a success. The progress we've already seen has been fantastic, and together we're creating exciting opportunities for more people to enjoy the game of golf.

This is just the beginning, and I'm excited to see our Women's Golf Academy continue to grow."

Bethan's sponsorship is helping to make golf more accessible to women in the local community, creating a welcoming environment where new friendships are forming, confidence is growing and more women discover a lifelong love of the game.

Nicola Alexander, Director at Bethan, and someone who is taking part in the first cohort of the Women’s Golf Academy added:

"At Bethan, we're passionate about supporting initiatives that bring people together, build confidence and create opportunities within our local communities. When Nicola shared her vision for growing women's golf at Oldmeldrum Golf Club, we knew it was something we wanted to be part of.

Seeing so many women embrace the sport and the academy grow beyond expectations has been fantastic. We're proud to support a programme that's making golf more accessible and look forward to seeing it continue to thrive."

With demand already exceeding the available places, the academy is proving just how much appetite there is for opportunities like this, and Oldmeldrum Golf Club is excited to welcome even more women onto the course in the months ahead.
